PVC Solvent Guide: How to Choose and Use PVC Solvent in India
1 August 20266 min readBy Arrow Weld
What is PVC Solvent?
PVC solvent is a specially formulated adhesive used to join PVC pipes and fittings. Unlike surface glues, it works by softening the pipe surface and fusing two pieces into a single watertight joint. This makes it the standard choice for plumbing, irrigation, drainage and construction projects across India.
Where is PVC Solvent Used?
- Agricultural irrigation systems and drip irrigation networks
- Residential and commercial plumbing installations
- PVC conduit and electrical piping
- Water supply lines up to 6 inch diameter
- Construction and infrastructure projects
How to Apply PVC Solvent Correctly
- Cut the pipe square and remove burrs with a deburring tool
- Clean both the pipe end and fitting socket thoroughly
- Apply an even coat of PVC solvent using a brush applicator
- Insert the pipe into the fitting with a quarter turn
- Hold the joint for 30 seconds without disturbing it
- Allow full cure time before pressurizing the system
